BHH will serve as a humming art-heart for the city, a beacon of pride and a cornerstone for future downtown development. In just a few short months, we’ll be waiting in line outside The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences, eager to enter into the city’s new hallowed space.
The Hub City is perched on a precipice, about to leap into an artistic future so dazzling that we may need to remind ourselves occasionally that this is still the flatlands and not Dallas or Houston. What’s more, we ain’t seen the half of it yet. But looking backward to, say, 1989 from the vantage of 2019, it’s absolutely stunning how far we’ve come. We’ve all seen it happening, sometimes in explosive leaps forward, sometimes in increments so slow that it felt like stagnation.
Over the past couple of decades, Lubbock has come into its own as an arts city.
